Describe what you know and how you know it. An honest range is more useful than an invented minute.
Name the uncertainty accurately
An unknown time means you have no dependable time or range. An approximate time means there is some information: a parent remembers the early morning, or a note says “around 9.” These are different starting points. A time recorded on a document is another category; keep the wording and source rather than assuming every record is exact.
Write “approximately 9 a.m., family recollection” instead of turning it into “9:00 a.m.” without explanation. If accounts disagree, bring both. Do not quietly average them into a new time that nobody actually recorded or remembers.
Gather what exists, without filling the gaps
Begin with records and people you can reasonably contact. Availability varies, and finding a document may not settle the question. Keep a simple note of each source and what it actually says.
- Birth date and place: include the town or city and country.
- Existing documents: check family papers, birth records or an old chart for any recorded time.
- Hospital or registration records: ask whether relevant records exist and how to request them.
- Family recollections: note who remembers, their wording and whether they were present.
- Conflicting details: preserve different dates, times or places rather than choosing the most convenient one.
Understand which chart details depend on time
Within astrology, the ascendant and house positions are calculated using the birth time and place. A guessed time can therefore change the chart being interpreted. Some other positions may also vary during the date in question. Ask which parts of the proposed discussion can be considered across the possible time range and which cannot.
A chart printed with an assumed noon time has not discovered your birth time. Any assumed time should stay visibly labelled as an assumption.
Treat inferred timing as a proposal
You may encounter “birth-time rectification,” meaning an attempt to infer or adjust a birth time. If a time is proposed by matching a chart to later life events, a convincing story is not the same as an independently recovered record. Different interpretations may favour different times. A result expressed to the minute can still rest on uncertain assumptions.
Ask what information was used, which alternative times were considered and what would change if the estimate were wrong. Keep the original information beside any proposed estimate. This guide does not imply that Anup Roy offers rectification; confirm the available scope before booking.
Plan a useful conversation around what is known
Tell Anup Roy about the uncertainty before selecting a detailed birth-chart consultation. Ask whether your question can be discussed meaningfully with the information available, whether the scope needs to be narrower or whether another consultation would suit your purpose.
If dated life events are requested, distinguish dates you can verify from rough recollections and share only the context needed. You can also bring questions about your present situation. Afterward, keep a note of which interpretations depended on a proposed time, so they do not become remembered as established facts.
Questions worth asking
- Is my time recorded, approximate or unknown?
- Where did each detail come from?
- Which parts of the consultation would depend on an estimate?
Before booking, share your date, place and the status of your birth time. Agree the question and the limits of the discussion with Anup Roy first.
